Functieomschrijving

Are you strong in designing OT infrastructures and ensuring systems that always run reliably and securely? Would you like to use your knowledge to directly contribute to a more sustainable future? Then join us as an Operational Technology Engineer (OT Engineer) at Novar.

Vereisten

Your role and key responsibilities

As an OT Engineer, you ensure that all our assets - such as solar parks, battery systems and substations - are securely and reliably connected to our data platform. You’re the one, who designs the blueprint of our OT environment and turns it into a future-proof setup. You combine thinking and doing: you design architectures, roll them out, and make sure critical systems - from data loggers and routers to complete SCADA networks - run continuously and securely.

Your work is at the heart of our operations: without stable data flows, there are no reliable dashboards, and we lose control of our assets. This way, you play a key role in making the energy transition more reliable every day.

Together with the Intelligence team (which processes and analyses the data) and your colleagues in operations, you ensure that all data is complete, secure, and always accessible.

In practice, you will:

  • Design, implement and manage OT networks and SCADA environments.

  • Develop and roll out blueprints and architectures for our solar parks, battery systems and substations.

  • Configure and maintain routers, data loggers, firewalls and PLCs.

  • Safeguard cybersecurity and the continuity of critical systems.

  • Monitor data flows, set up KPIs and act quickly when issues occur.

  • Document and improve processes and contribute to further automation.

Your profile
You’re analytical and process-oriented and know how to turn OT solutions into practical results. With your proactive, results driven mindset, you handle troubleshooting with ease. In addition, you have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Automation.

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Knowledge of networks (routing, VPN, LTE/4G/5G, firewalls).

  • Experience with SCADA and OT systems, including designing architectures.

Experience in the energy sector is a big plus. It’s also an advantage if you’re familiar with industrial protocols such as Modbus or OPC-UA, or if you’ve worked with solar and battery solutions before. Basic scripting skills (for example, in Python or PowerShell) make your profile complete.
